The Nanoq seems to thrive in warmer years, which is hardly a surprise, as it is almost the harshest climate on the planet. They have a huge layer of fat and they have hollow transparent hairs, which gives them extra warmth from the Sun. The Nanoq lives mostly in the north-east Greenland in an almost empty wilderness, so large it is almost unimaginable. This is the main reason, it is so difficult to estimate a trend in population. However, one man has done more than anyone else to cast some light over this subject, namely Mitchell Taylor, who has published 59 peer reviewed papers on mainly polar bears. Joanne Nova once wrote the article "Exile For Non-Believers", about how green groups with no particular credentials denied him reporting to the IPCC, because he does not believe in CO2 caused man-made global warming. According to Mitchell Taylor and others, it looks like the populations are stable after general hunting was forbidden years ago. |
