Color-VikingSometimes, or rather most of the times, we remember the extremes as if it was yesterday.  When people tell me there is little snow the last many years and that this is due to "global warming", it could not be further from the truth.  Weather is a funny thing, it is something we all talk about, but we have yet to be so intellectual as to have the courtesy of looking in the written statistics once in a while.  By doing so you discover you remembered a few unusual events during the last 40 years and suppressed the average boring weather during the same period.

Skagerrak ice

Yesterday the big ferry, going from the Norwegian Sandefjord headed towards Strömstad in Sweden, got stuck in the sea ice half an hour after departure.  After having reconfigured the ballast into icebreaker mode, the ferry continued with an ETA 2 hours later that scheduled.

The director of the line, Øyvind Næss, says he never experienced similar ice problems in Skagerrak and adds that the icy situation will have consequences for the ferries.
